Author Steve Krug understands how to apply the K.I.S.S. approach - Keep it simple, saints - to the Web.

His breakout book Don't Make Me Think (second edition) is an excellent resource if you are in the process of building your own Web site or helping to redesign your company's existing Web site.

What you might think your Web audience will automatically click on and what your Web audience actually does click on are often two different matters. You might just be shocked enough with what you find to go back and redesign your site.

Overcoming Fear at the CLASS Writer's Conference

I will be missing out on the writer's conference this year, which is a real bummer. However, I can still contribute by giving attendees (especially newbies) a few words of encouragement, which is exactly what I would do if I were there.

Hiding Behind the Mask

When I hear the word mask, I always think of the Lone Ranger and his buddy Tonto.

Lone Ranger wore a mask, but Tonto was always in full view. It seemed that Tonto had eyes in the back of his head.

The Lone Ranger and Tonto went camping in the desert. After they got their tent set up, both men fell sound asleep. Some hours later, Tonto wakes the Lone Ranger and asks, "Kemosabe, look toward sky; what you see?"
