Personality Training - Equipping Others for Peaceful Living

February 1, 2010

By Linda Gilden

Romans 12:18  "If it is possible as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone."

If we are true to that verse, we cannot be selective in practicing it. Neither can we limit ourselves to equipping others through our Personality Training seminars. We must be available to train people in the church, workplace, educational arenas, and more.

While I was judging a literary meet at a local school, one of the administrators stopped by to chat. She mentioned a problem in one of the classrooms.

Using The Personalities as a Teacher

February 1, 2010

By Sharon Norris Elliott

I teach high school students and their world is all about them, so they particularly enjoy thinking and talking about themselves.

I introduce the personalities to them not only to help them know more about themselves, but also to help me understand their idiosyncracies. My passion is not only to teach, but to touch my students in a profound way. Knowing which students are born leaders (cholerics), perfectionists (melancholies), peace-seekers (phlegmatics), and joy producers (sanguines) gives me a heads-up on how to best relate to and reach them.

Are You Hitting Your Goals?

September 8, 2009

By Tama Westman

I saw this tip from Mark Victor Hansen, co-creator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, while I was flipping through the pages of the October issue of Success Magazine (If you don't yet subscribe to Success, I encourage you to up your game today with this monthly issue of some of the best leadership advice going).

According to Hansen, you can create a life-goal list in as little as 15 minutes. Sounds easy. Here's how:

Overcoming Obstacles

June 1, 2009

By Evelyn W. Davison

With each personality blend there are weaknesses which, if not harnessed, become obstacles to communication. An obstacle is anything real or unreal that gets in the way of progress or excellence.

We all have them! The point is that while we have them, they don't have to "have" us.

Pursuit of Excellence

May 5, 2009

By Evelyn W. Davison

While knocking on the doors of seniority, I have experienced a lot of pursuits in my life. I am a great "pursuiter."  Guess that is part of my being Sanguine-Choleric.

It was such a big part of life when my boys were growing up that one year they gave me a policeman's whistle for Christmas.  They addressed the gift tag to "Sgt. Mother."

Personalities in Crisis

March 25, 2008

By Gerry Wakeland

Hardly a day goes by here in the CLASS office that we do not receive an e-mail or phone call from someone who tells us how understanding The Personalities has "changed their lives", "saved their marriage", "kept them from killing their kids", etc. It is an encouragement to those of us who are on the receiving end of these comments to see first hand the impact that this information has had on so many.

I first learned of The Personalities over 20 years ago. At first I saw it as an asset to my work. At the time I had over 60 men and women reporting to me and there were far too many days that I left work ready to scream. Learning about The Personalities helped me better understand these men and women and their needs. It helped me take 60 plus individuals and turn them into a dynamic team!

Melancholy Perception

March 15, 2008

By Linda Gilden

My dream of becoming a writer was shattered by a creative writing professor obviously struggling to encourage. I had written an article that I was sure was a Reader’s Digest shoo-in. On my returned paper were the words, “You have nice handwriting!” Nice words, but when falling on melancholy ears, they were enough to discourage me for many years.

I realize Mrs. Griffith, my teacher, was desperately searching for something positive to say rather than being critical of my writing. But my personality bypassed the nice words and went straight to what I thought was the heart of the matter!

Re-Training My Powerful Side

March 6, 2008

By Linda Goldfarb

This month we are discussing Personalities and I felt encouraged to share my not-so-popular (UN-Sanguine) side.

According to the Personality Puzzle, my piece would be Powerful Choleric with Popular Sanguine around the edges. And I must admit, it fits perfectly.
