- Where is Our Power
Everywhere eyes can focus today, they see trouble. Troubles are right there in your "River City." America is in a changing mode that is being driven mostly by greed instead of need.
Is God still involved in the lives of those whom He created? Is life doomed? Is there hope? Our structure is shaking and people are wavering in their faith, yet, there is power available.
Our valleys are somewhat like the Valley of Dry Bones. The prophet Ezekiel lived and led in a time when all hope was seemingly gone. Jerusalem and the land of God's promise-people were both destroyed. The people had been carried into exile in foreign lands, and It was in this time of trouble that God gave Ezekiel the vision of a valley of dry bones - leftovers - dead people! (Ezekiel 37).
Suddenly, at the command of Ezekiel, the bones came together into skeletons, then sinew and connective tissue were added, and then they were covered with skin. But these bodies were not living bodies. They were lifeless and hopeless until God breathed his Spirit to bring them to life - making a powerful connection with His Spirit.
Today, many people do not know, or have forgotten in their struggles, that the power to truly live comes from God's Spirit. God's Spirit raised Jesus from the dead, and God's Spirit can bring life to us, our church, our friends, all those under attack and persecution - and even to those in hopeless situations.
In 2010, let's pray for God's Spirit to move with power in our bones so we can deliver help and hope. Let us daily pray the WORD over these bones and the work He has placed us to do through His Power.
We might be surprised to see our valley of dry bones come to life and dance in rhythm to God's leading, loving, and linking us together - especially to those who are drier than we are!
".....When this happens, O my people, you will know that I am the Lord. I will put my Spirit in you, and you will live again and return home to your own land. Then you will know that I, the Lord, have spoken, and I have done what I said. Yes, the Lord has spoken!" -- Ezekiel 37:13-14 NLT
PRAYER: Lord of Heaven & Earth, we believe You are our Power, and we are to be your transformers to bring light to others. We ask you to shake up our bones. Tie them together with your Spirit so that we can be used, individually and as a ministry, to bring light for life and love to those that are lost in the darkness of the valleys. Engage us and enliven us through your Holy Spirit as we pray and work in the blessed name of Jesus. Amen.
